CryptoDefense

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Although I have the premium version of Malwarebytes, my computer was infected with CryptoDefense.  I need help with two things:

(i) ensuring that the computer is clear : Malwarebytes didn't pick up anything, so I ran SpyHunter.  This is telling me that there is a trojan at C:\RECYCLER\...\Dc1424.exe, but there doesn't seem to be any such file path on the system (I also tried search for Dc1424.exe itself, but it didn't bring back anything.  I have Windows XP)

(ii) restoring the files if possible, but previous versions/shadow copies don't work

Thanks in advance

Hi, catsmight: :)

We can't work on malware diagnostics and removal in this sub-section of the forum.

The necessary scanners and tools cannot be used in this area.

So, for expert assistance, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
A malware analyst will assist you with the cleanup and repair process.

Thanks,
