Updated MWB - now getting bombarded with pop-ups

Recommended Posts

Few days ago I reinstalled my operating system, when I went to reinstall Malwarebytes---I saw that it had been updated and I got version

Now that I have this version---I'm suddenly getting hit with popups all the time. So much so that I thought maybe I'd been punk'd and somehow downloaded a 'fake' Malwarebytes. I used to work as a computer tech so typically caring for my computer is something I keep up on. So I searched on Google--and it does seem to be a legit version of Malwarebytes.

Does this new version not cover as much as the last Free edition? I am using Google Chrome and the AdBlockPlus Extension. I just want to make sure I didn't mess something up because the difference between the two versions----I feel like I'm using two different programs. I've never had popup issues like this before.

Ah, hold on a tick. I was just looking in the Google Extensions and saw three that I'd never seen before.

As soon as I saw the first two, I did Google searches but came up with nothing---does anyone know anything about them?

The YTadblocker popped up as Spyware, of course. So these three rogue extensions might have been the issue. I'm gonna hunt around and see if I can find anything about those first two. Google gave me nothing back.

Hello and Welcome to Malwarebytes

Sounds like you may be infected if you are getting a lot of popups. I really don't use Chrome so I can't say I recognize those extensions. That being said, feel free to follow the instructions below to receive free, one-on-one expert assistance in checking your system and clearing out any infections and correcting any damage done by the malware.

Please see the following pinned topic which has information on how to get help with this: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers

Thank you
