Often Microsoft updates fail but have changed the permissions so that even as an Admin you can't remove them. You just need to take OWNERSHIP of them in order to remove them.Not saying that multiple folders and files addition to the product is a bad idea, just offer suggestion for potentially difficult folder to remove.
