removing pup.optional

Recommended Posts

Hello!

While running malware, came up with 404 pup.optional. Tried to remove but Malware keeps freezing/not responding, now I am down to 12. Little buggers. Those 12 remain and I have tried to remove but again Malware does not respond. I even tried in safe mode, no luck. So here are my questions:

1. Can I remove them myself (not computer savvy at all) and if so how?

2. How can I prevent getting them again?

3. Should I just hire a professional and if so, any recommendations on who to use other than geek squad?

4. Are these harmful to my computer and how in the world did I get them?

Thank you for any assistance, greatly appreicated:)

Theresa
