keyboard responding intermittently - Please help

Running Win 8.1
64 bit

my arrow keys are not responding all the time.  if press the Function key or press the keys really hard they start to work again for a bit (sometimes).

when I type fast some of the keys I press do not appear. 

I wonder if there is some virus, or maleware causing this.

 

DDS won't run, says, "DDS is not meant to run in 'Compatibility Mode'.  The program shall now exit.
