I get a message error 5 access denied when I try and install Malwarebytes.

Also unable to run or install AVG.

Unable to run system restore.

Get a small window on start up explorer.exe with a yellow exclamation mark.

Most of my entries in controlpanel > programs and accessories have disappeared except those starting Mi - Mo.

This would probably be the better area for this topic -- I think that the mod team just hasn't yet had a chance to relocate the other post?

 

In any event, it now looks as if the 2 posts can be merged. :)

 

So, @woldsweather, please follow the steps in this reply to your other thread and post the requested logs (attached to your reply).

I would guess that posting them here is fine, until the mod team has a chance to merge the threads.

 

The staff will review your logs and advise you.

I see that you have followed  Firefox's expert advice to have the system checked in the malware removal section >>HERE<<.

I see that you are having a problem running DDS.

That's because DDS won't run on Windows 8.1.

 

Your FRST logs will be just fine, instead.

 

HOWEVER, please hold onto those logs for now and do NOT reply to your post there to add them at this time.

Doing so will change the reply count in that post from "0".

That might cause the helpers to miss it, thinking you are being helped.

 

Please just wait until a helper picks up that other post in the malware removal section.

You can provide the FRST logs then, when the helper asks for them.
