Snap.do

Sorry this will be wordy,

On 04/02/2014 I downloaded a "Movie Player", it never worked.  Next time I opened my I.E. web browser it was hijacked to the snap.do home page.  I know enough about this stuff to get in BIG TROUBLE, and that's exactly what I did.  I we to a web site and followed their removal instructions.  It directed me to the "control panel" (I'm running Windows 7) and told me to look for Snap.do and remove it.  I did that and while in there I noticed two things.   1)I had lots of stuff dated 04/02/2014 that I did not recognize. 2) about 3/4 of my legitimate programs (that I've had since 201)were also dated 04/02/2014.  I removed all the programs I did not recognize and LEFT THE OTHERS ALONE.

I rebooted the computer but was again hijacked by Snap.do.  I went back to the control panel and noted that all the programs that had been dated 04/2/2014 were gone, however when I opened one of their icons on my desktop hey appear: to be there, and to run fine.

I contacted Norton and told them the problem.  They spent about 3 1/2 hours on line with me.  I can't tell you what all they did, but none of it worked.

I went on line to PC Mag. found their recommendation for Malwarebytes and down loaded it.  I did what it calls, "threat scan" and quarantined but DID NOT remove all that it found.

I still have Snap.do on I.E.

 .

Attached are the files from DDS

Can you help me?

Thanks,

Jim Fee

OK...next:

Please download AdwCleaner from HERE or HERE to your desktop.

  • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.

Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator

  • Click on the Scan button.
  • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
  • When it's done you'll see: Pending: Please uncheck elements you don't want removed.
  • Now click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R0].txt) will open in Notepad for review.
  • Look over the log especially under Files/Folders for any program you want to save.
  • If there's a program you may want to save, just uncheck it from AdwCleaner.
  • If you're not sure, post the log for review. (all items found are adware/spyware/foistware)
  • If you're ready to clean it all up.....click the Clean button.
  • After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[s0].txt) will open automatically.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
  • A copy of that logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder.
  • Items that are deleted are moved to the Quarantine Folder: C:\AdwCleaner\Quarantine
  • To restore an item that has been deleted:
  • Go to Tools > Quarantine Manager > check what you want restored > now click on Restore.

I don't think windows 7 has an add/remove programs *thing".  To get where I mean, I open the control panel and click on "uninstall a program".  That gives you a list of all programs.  It use to contain stuff like uTubecatcher. VMware workstation, Adobe Reader, and the like.  All those are gone now but the icons remain on my desk top and appear to work,
