CWB Posted June 30, 2014 ID:847542 Share Posted June 30, 2014 to be honest and as this is most likely going to be a single or limited use of/for a set of screwdrivers ...i would suggest stopping by a hardware store , home depot , menards or other similar place and grabbing a set of "jeweler's screwdrivers" .(i have done this several times in different parts of the country ... go to visit ... "can you fix this ?" ... etc .)this is not nearly as elegant of a solution but will work . a set will have (usually) three each of phillips and flat blade screwchasers . KPP Posted June 30, 2014 Author ID:847550 Share Posted June 30, 2014 Dear Diety. Not elegant? You gotta be kidding me? That's an exquisitely elegant solution! But lemme see if I've got it right. You're suggesting I walk up to some random clerk, showing my Phillips, and ask them: Can you fix this? Grateful admirer
CWB Posted June 30, 2014 ID:847739 Share Posted June 30, 2014 nooooooo ...go to a hardware store (or similar place) and purchase a set of the aforementioned screwdrivers .they should be fairly cost effective (cheap) . most of the sets come "6 to an injection molded box" (shades of frank zappa) .(the actual number may vary)

KPP Posted August 3, 2014 Author ID:861855 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Boat from China finally arrived. Repairs scheduled for tomorrow. This will be a first for me. I am not at all mechanically inclined. I grew up with two older brothers who pretty much dominated that arena. Wish me luck!
CWB Posted August 3, 2014 ID:861904 Share Posted August 3, 2014 as an old boy told me many years ago ... "luck aint got nothin' to do with it" .make sure that you put the screws and other items in an order that you can follow for re-assembly .the screws can be (bet on "are") different lengths/sizes .if need be , there is nothing wrong with making chicken scratches on paper .
