When I run an on demand Threat scan with rootkit scan enabled it takes about 10 minutes. When I do a Scheduled Threat scan with rootkit scan enabled it takes over 4 hours. Tech support believes it has to do with the rootkit enabled, but from what I already mentioned that does not make sense. I wii try a scheduled threat scan with rookit disabled, but I'm guessing it will still take too long. Any suggestions?

Hi, Buonin:

It can be confusing for everyone to try to work on one issue in multiple venues simultaneously (e.g. help desk and forum).

So it would probably be a good idea to follow Firefox's expert advice and continue to work with your support team member at the help desk.

Thanks very much for your understanding and patience,

To make sure that we're not stepping on each others' toes, and giving conflicting advice, have you replied to Tech Support that their answer does nto make sense since it is the same scan, one run manually and one scheduled, and yet they are taking completely different amounts of time?

I understand that you may have stated such in filing your report, but have you reiterated that fact so that they can examine your situation in more detail?

malwarebytes 2.0 is just horrible. If you simply review the forum posts the following is obvious:

1. scans are taking too long

2. it dispalys duplicate malware and web exclusions in settings

3. it displays the next scheduled scan time with the wrong date

4. when chameleon is activated it messes with the boot process

this software is obviously not ready for prime time maybe beta

  1. It is also scanning for more things and in more places than MBAM 1.75.  It is going to be at least a little longer than the older app.
  2. Known bug, and the development team is well aware of it - I reported it at least a couple of months ago now.  Something to do with definition updates.  Simply closing out of the program and restarting will get it to load the list once, at least until the next database update occurs.
  3. Also a known issue, reported a couple of months ago.  Dev team is definitely working on that one too, according to posts in the Beta forum.
  4. No issues with Chameleon messing with the boot process on 2 Windows 7 computers and 1 Windows 8.1 (upgraded from 8) computer here.  Could it be that it is conflicting with some other AV/AM product that you have installed?

FWIW, an update is already in the works for the new MBAM.  See the Introduction thread in the News forum.

5. many users have complained about real-time protection not working anymore when upgrading to 2.0

These issues are repeated all over this forum. With this many issues 2.0 should not have been releasead. It's embarrassing for such a well known previous version.
