MBAM 2 Option for scan after update

Recommended Posts

Having recently upgraded from 1.75 Pro to 2.0 Premium, I have noticed an option has been lost in the new version. In 1.75 Pro, when automatic updates were scheduled, there was an option to automatically perform a flash afterwards. 2.0 has no option for a Hyper scan after a scheduled update, is it considered unnecesary now?

Hi:

It is more intuitive (and makes more sense from a malware detection standpoint) to do it the other way around, so now, for 2.00, the option is to check for updates before scanning. ;)

FYI: If you enable this, both the update check and the subsequent scan will be randomized +/- 15 minutes around the scheduled time.  That's because scheduled update checks are randomized (they have been for several versions) and the update check randomization "overrides" the scan schedule.  So, if you don't want your scan time to be randomized, don't enable this feature.  You can just schedule hourly update checks and (for example) a daily Threat scan (without a "check for updates before scan").

That would be entirely up to you.  I have my computer set to run a threat scan once daily, but am checking for definition updates in real time.  I, too, miss the "Run a Flash (now Hyper) scan upon new definition update" method, as that way it would only run if the definition was updated, which makes a lot more sense to me than scheduling regular scans that include an update that then throw the scan timing off.

I'm adding this to my thread about MBAM suggestions.
