Last week I had to replace my main hard drive. Installed Win 7. During the course of the rebuild I installed Malwarebytes, with no problem. Then yesterday I tried to run it and it would not load. So, I unistalled, and in the course of reinstalling, I kept getting Runtime, Internal and External errors. Did this process several times, both in regular mode and Safe Mode.

I am running AVG, and have scanned the whole computer without any threats. I did load Spyhunter4, just to see what it would find. It did find about 215 threats, most of which were cookies. It did find a program, Slick Savings, of which I uninstalled manually. i removed all instances of that program from the Registry and browsers. Tried again to reinstall Malwarebytes, but still a problem.

I have even tried renaming the install file, as several people have suggested. Still no install.

Everything else on my new system seems to be running fine. But this issue concerns me, thinking that something is still buried, not allowing me to install the software.

Any help would be appreciated.

Got it. Went very smoothly with your excellent instructions. Apparently the problem was with leftover MalwareBytes code. Did a scan and found 27 problems, all relatd to the Slick Savings malware within Google Chrome. I thought I had cleaned all that out, but apparently not.

I like the new look in the new version of MalwareBytes. Very clean and easy to use!

Thanks so much for your help!!!
