My  Dell XP is being retired.  I bought a new PC laptop.

What is the procedure to prevent Being " HIT " on the web while I am getting to your site for a down load ?  Can I buy a disc & load the program not connected to the web ? My favorite way.

What does your program Not protect while we surf the web ? We are in our 70s.

What  other programs are desireable ? If needed & why ?

Thank you very much.

Hi, mbcyclops2, and :welcome:

If you go to a reseller like NewEgg, you can purchase a boxed set of the software complete with a license key that will be registered to you.  You can then install this without any internet access, although once the instillation is completed, the software will want to:

  1. Check for definition updates immediately, and
  2. Run a scan on your system (after updating is you allow the update to continue).

You can skip the update, run a scan, and then when you feel confident enough, enable your Internet access and allow it to update itself.

If you prefer the free version, or prefer to buy your key directly from MBAM, you can download the free version directly from this link, or buy the Premium version as well, with which you can also purchase (optionally) a backup CD ROM.

Now, before you go off to buy it, there is one thing to consider:  Malwarebytes is moving from their old lifetime license system, over to a new yearly subscription system.  The yearly subscription is one license that will install the MBAM product on up to 3 different computers, but will have to be renewed every year.  The lifetime license can only be installed on a single computer, and cannot be transferred to another individual, but will never require another dime for premium protection for the lifetime of the MBAM product.

The reason I mention this is that, according to this link form another forum member, NewEgg is having a sale on the MBAM lifetime licenses - see this post:  https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=145212&hl=%2Bnewegg Now, I know it sounds to good to be true, but these are legitimate lifetime licenses for MBAM being sold at a huge discount for the next few days only.

As for your other questions, they require a much more in depth answer.  Please give me a few minutes to answer them (and hopefully a staff member or two will step in for corroboration as well).

To answer Q #1, I'll let a staff member come in with a much better answer than I could hope to formulate as they know the program, quite literally, from the inside out.

As for the second question, well, first off, MBAM is a supplementary product, meant to be used in conjunction with a regular antivirus product, so you'll definitely want one of those.  Depending upon your activities online, and added to that the paranoia factor you may possess, that may well be enough for you, or you may want to add more layers of security.  At the very least, I'd go with an antivirus product, MBAM Premium, and some very, very careful scrutiny of what you allow on your system, in terms of both downloads and external drives and so-called 'thumb-drives".
