Malicious Website Blocking

Recommended Posts

Hello, I just updated to v2.0  the other day. So far the only issues that I've seen are that mbam.exe refused to terminate, even via taskkill. A restart was the remedy, but still. And now to the subject of this post -- Malicious Website Protection! Well, let's just say this is the first time in all the years I've been using MBAM that I've considered getting rid of it (well, probably not, but considering reverting back to previous version). The big thing is that when using a torrent client (Tixati) I continuously get 'Malicious Website Blocked' notifications and it's impacting functionality big time. I use torrents for legitimate reasons, and I understand the dangers, so please, let's just save to-torrent-or-not-to-torrent debate for another day. My question is how do I go about stopping the incessant pop-up notifications? Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings :)

If you are on Windows Vista Service Pack 2, Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1, you can now actually exclude your Bittorrent client from Malicious Website Protection so that its connections are not blocked while still keeping all protection enabled for all of your other web facing applications such as your internet browsers. To do this, simply open Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and access the Web Exclusions sub-tab under Settings and click on the Add Process button (this button will not be available on Windows XP or Windows Vista pre-SP2 because this feature does not function on those operating systems) and then browse to the location of your Bittorrent client's main executable (the process being blocked when you see those block notifications) and select it to add it to your Web Exclusions list. From that point on you should no longer see any block notifications for your Bittorrent client.

Please let us know if that resolves the issue for you or not or if there's anything else we can assist you with.

Thanks :)

You're welcome, I'm glad I could help :).

Also, now that you've done that (rather than just disabling notifications), you'll get alerted when something malicious is blocked from any of your other programs, which is definitely important so that you know what's going on and of course your downloads with your Bittorrent client will likely be faster now that none of its connections are being blocked.
