It sounds as if you might be running Windows from a LUA (Limited User Account)?

Only Admin account users can update MBAM.

If you right-click the MBAM shortcut icon on your desktop and click "run as administrator", that will allow you to update.

There are some tips and a video here: I'm trying to update but the 'Check for Updates' button is grayed out or unable to be clicked, why?

(The video hasn't yet been updated for version 2.00, but the basic idea is the same.)

 

 Alternatively, you can reinstall it from an Admin account and then the updates can be scheduled.
