MBAM 2.0 - 2 Critical annoying problems.

Recommended Posts

Hello MBAM support,

Just upgrade my Pro MBAM to 2.0 version, and I have 2 critical annoying problems:

1. Popups Notifications - I Disabled it, and they still popup and say "FIX Now" (after I cancel protection).

    I Just want to really stop it from popping.

2. Automatic Scans - I Can't DISABLE it! it show that everyday at 03:00 if will scan (and can't disable it).

    so I just shutdown my computer. When I log-in, its automatic use force scan, and I must wait 2 min to cancel it.

3. Windows Startup - MBAM2.0 Keep start with the windows startup, can't disable it!

With the 1.75 version I just scan it manually, and This issues Force me to consider go back to 1.75 version, with the older engine.

Hi afro,

First of all.

:welcome:

Something that might help:

If you bought a license, make sure you have a copy of the ID and Key before proceeding. The idea is to revert MBAM to it's free version which does not have the features you seem fo find annoying.

Open the MBAM main screen. Click on 'my account' (top right), and then on 'deactivate' (bottom left next to 'change license'). You may need to confirm. This should revert MBAM to the free version that does not offer the features you mentioned and will leave only the manual updating and scanning.

I'm not really sure why you wouldn't want the premium features enabled but I think this will solve you problem.

Another piece of advise that might help is provided by daledoc1 (below this post). Take a look at his/her solution as well, it may fit your needs better.

I hope this will help. If you have any questions, please ask.

Hi:

@Durew:

Perhaps I misunderstood, but it sounds to me as if the user wants to roll back to version 1.75, not revert his 2.00 Premium to 2.00 Free?? :)

<just sayin'>

@afro:

Yes, there are some "bugs" or features of the notifications system that are still being worked on.

And I have seen mention of "startup" issues with a few users.

I think the devs are aware and will have some improvements in the next build.

Having said that, minor issues are often resolved with a clean reinstall.

Rather than rolling back to 1.75, you might want to try that.

If so, you would follow the steps in Method 1 here: MBAM Clean Removal Process.

If that doesn't resolve your issues, please let us know.

We'll collect some logs and the staff/experts will assist you.

Thanks!

@Afro: Two pieces of advise. Pick the solution that appeals the most to you. Please let us know how it worked out.

@daledoc:

spoiler as not to polute the topic too much and not to confuse anyone.

I came to bit different conclusion about what afro (I assume afro is male) wants/what would help him best. A little about how I reached my conclusion.

Since he (assuming male) basicly disabled, or tried to disable, all features that the pro/premium version offer extra, I think reverting his license would at least make him happy with MBAM. He is discribing the premium features as 'critically annoying problems', so I figured reverting to the free verson would solve it. But, I agree that it is rather drastic and I honestly don't understand why he doesn't want the premium features enabled when he has a license. But I currently don't think that the reason for this is relevant at this point.

Since he mentioned 'older engine' I assumed he didn't want a rollback to 1.75. I did miss that he had a license though, I had a trail version in mind.

Thus why I came to the solution I proposed. Yours might fit his needs better. We'll see, as long as his is problem solved and he's happy with his MBAM copy, I'm pleased.

OK, to pick and choose:

  1. Popup notifications for critical system items will pop up until at least the next build - MB has had more than a few RFFs to kill notifications on parts of the Premium features that were disabled that still throw up a notification.
  2. To disable scheduled scans, simply click the check box, then the remove button becomes usable.  If you click anywhere else it highlights the scan and allows you to use the edit button.
  3. For the Automatic startup, I'd suggest following DaleDoc1's advice and performing a clean install - this seems to be happening a lot to people who installed MBAM2.0 over 1.75.
