Saving logs in MBAM 2.0 Free Edition (Final release)

Recommended Posts

They are saved automatically and may be accessed via the History tab under Application Logs. Additionally, you may now use the Copy to Clipboard to copy/paste your scan's contents directly into a forum post or email (or even notepad if you wish) or you may use the Export Log button, also provided at the end of a scan, to save the log in the format and location of your choice (available formats are currently XML and .txt).

Until further clarification is given, I believe that it is a separate process from the definition updates, as evidenced during my Beta testing.

Just like with MBAM 1.75, the definition updates are separate from the program updates, but both use the exact same mechanism - so if you are a PRO user, and you schedule automatic updates, that covers both definitions as well as program updates.

Actually, that's not necessarily the case for 1.75.

I have 1.75 configured for auto-updates for databases, but not for program updates.

(IIRC it is an option presented during the setup wizard, and I disable it.)

I haven't loaded 2.00 yet, so I can't address the question for the new version. We'll need to wait for exile360 on that. ;)

Cheers,

Well, that would stink.

If that's the case, here's an RFF for the MBAM team: allow user to disable auto program updates separately from database updates.

I am confused  .That's for MBAM 1.75 where u can do seperate update for program updates and definitions updates? I don't see any of those in MBAM 2.0 Free Edition? Any info will be very much appreciated?

Like Panda Cloud Antivirus Free Edition and for Pro Edition it has transparent program updates so it will automatically install program updates (when available) and it will work without having to rely on user's actions. So I thought MBAM are following these sorts of system.

Hi, kiwi4life:

Yes, I was replying to John L. Galt, as he had said that program and database updates in 1.75 always happen together.

I was just showing him that this is not the case and that the user can disable automatic program updates separately in 1.75.

As I mentioned, I don't know how it works for 2.00, as I have not yet updated.

Sorry for the confusion...

HOWEVER, many users prefer to have more control over their system, when it comes to updating programs.

There are many reasons for that.

Updates are sometime "broken" or buggy or unstable; there may be conflicts with other software on the user's system; program updates requiring a reboot might occur automatically at an inconvenient time, when the user is engaged in some other computing activity; etc.

I have no problem with an option to make the program updates "invisible" or "transparent", letting them happen with minimal or no user action.

And it would even be OK to have that the default setting.

I understand the rationale for that, for non-tech-savvy users.

But IMHO removing the option altogether to separately disable automatic program updates for advanced users is a VERY :( BAD idea.

>>I'm sorry for having hijacked your post -- if the mod team prefers to split off John's replies and mine about this (since they are off-topic), that would be fine.<<

Thanks,

daledoc1

  • Root Admin

I understand the concern and we are working on updates for the next program update hopefully due next month but not all requests will make it into that update either, but we are listening and hope to get all of these added, tweaked, updated at some point.

I will say though that the 2.0 program is much better at detection and removal of threats than 1.75 is.
