Hello MWB Guys,

my girlfriend experienced strange behaviour on her laptop. Word icon was lost, on systems partition she suddenly had a link symbol on her program files folder etc.

so i booted her computer up in save mode, let avira do it's work. avira removed two files typical for a trojan disguised as optimizer pro.exe and setup.exe

after reboot no connection can be established via the LAN interface. WIFI still works fine, but on LAN adapter windows tries to identify the network but gives up after some time. no IP is assigned from DHCP, manual given IP doesn't change anything to the network status. the usual 169.*** IP is given.

so restart in safe mode again, MWB Tool installed, found another two infections and cleaned them. now after reboot the icons are back but still no connection on LAN. Also she gets the rundll32 error from the module sysmenu.dll

usally i would back up the data and reinstall but she is out of the country for another 3 weeks and i can only connect to her pc via Teamviewer when she got Wifi which is only about 2 hours a day. so now i'm done and in desperate need of your help to do the impossible and fix it.

attached are the dds.txt and  the attach.txt

thank you for your help, regards

phil

p.s. i'm not a native english speaker, so please excuse any mistakes in my writing. thank you...

No,but thank you.

After hours upon hours and nervewrecking fixes I managed to get her LAN Adapter to work again (for now). After she comes back home I will just wipe the Laptop clean and install the OS fresh.
