Can I Re-quarantine PUPs from the ignore list?

Hi, so basically I've accidentally put some PUPs into the ignore list - what can i say, i'm a clumsy dolt. Anyway, I apparently ought to have just deleted them when they popped up in scan results, because there's an extension I've allowed that's now creating a problem with my profile on chrome... Anyhow, I can't find any option to place them back in quarantine, or mark them as unfriendly or whatever. If anyone is aware of an obvious answer (because I can't find any person on these forums with a similar issue) you're reply would be very welcome.

Did you try to open the ignore list tab > select the items you want to remove from the list > and then "delete" or "delete all" and then > rescan?

(I don't have any PUPs on my Ignore List, so the attached screen shot is just an example...)

 

By default, MBAM only detects PUPs, but it does not automatically select them for removal.

So, if you want to remove all PUPs, there are 2 options:

 

1. If you want Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to remove these PUP detections reported after a scan, each item must be checked.

• To do so quickly, you can highlight one of the detections by left clicking on it.
• Then, right click on the highlighted detection, and select 'Check All Items'.
• Next, click 'Remove Selected'. That should address the PUP entries.

2. If you want to edit the way PUP detections are reported and handled, you can follow the steps in this illustrated blog post: http://blog.malwareb...cting-all-pups/
 
(If you want to keep/ignore the PUP detections, because they are familiar to you and you use them, you can add them to the Ignore List.)

Unfortunately the suggestion to delete from the ignore list and re-scan didn't work. Maybe it's just me, but it's very peculiar that there isn't an option to put PUPs or threats mistaken by the user as harmless back into quarantine. At the time I didn't think ahead, just assumed there would be a big button to press. No such luck...
Nevertheless, I'm very grateful for your response daledoc1! I doubt I'll bother with the malware analyst - it isn't such a terrible problem, merely an annoyance that I'm going to have to work around.

Well, bummer.

I'm not sure why that wouldn't work.

 

it's up to you, but the help over in the malware removal section of the forum is free -- it will only cost you a bit of your time.

Perhaps the helpers might be able to get those items restored, so that they can be re-detected by MBAM.

They will also be able to guide you through the use of other tools and scanners to help rid the computer of these PUPs and any other malware/adware/junkware/crapware.

 

While PUPs are not "malware" per se, I certainly wouldn't want any of that junk on my computer.

 

But again, it's up to you.

Remove them, then reboot the computer, then scan again and they should be detected again
