Goodmorning, I'm the Product Manager of Punctis. Punctis is not an hijack ( https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=141919#entry788465 ) it is an Italian company and startup which allows users to collect points during their browsing activity. The users is aware of this, he has to signup, decide to download our plugin, install it, configure it. We have of course a regular Privacy Policy. So, we are not a malware at all. Several Italian newspaper wrote about our tool, for example Corriere.it: http://nuvola.corriere.it/2013/10/26/punctis-la-start-up-che-premia-i-tuoi-like/

So, I kindly ask you to quickly remove this misunderstanding thread that is causing us a huge offens to our company.

Please read before reporting a false positive

It gives guidance on what's needed to properly report a possible False Positive declaration.

Hello David,

no I cannot do any of these things simple because Punctis is not a malware. Is a real browser plug-in developed by a real company, used by real users that know how the plugin works. So it is not a false positive or whatever. Your team has seen that the Punctis Plugin keeps track of some actions made by the user on the browser, and has thought it was a malware. This is not a malware, this is the basis of our company, which is a rewarding company, which rewards user behaviours on its browser. That's why the plugin tracks the actions on the browser. So it is complete, huge, misunderstanding, caused by a very non-professional analysis  from your side. So now I ask you to solve the problem caused by your company.

I neither have your software installed. Simply hundreds of users are writing to our Customer Support Center saying like "Hey, I've read here: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=141919#entry788465 that your plugin is a virus! Is it true?". So I discovered your topic: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=141919#entry788465

As you would certainly understand, it is causing huge damage to my company, with no reason.

If you mark as malware our Plugin, why do not mark as malware the STumblerUpon one? Or the Evernote one? Nonsense, very non-professional.

Hello MysteryGCM, I agree with you. Bot I think you have to give better instruction to your Social media team: I wrote on your Facebook Page how to solve the issue and they replied: Hi Guido, Please post in our false positive forum at https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showforum=42 and one of our researchers can assist you with this. Thanks.

He is stating that this is a correct detection.

And from looking at our definitions it was specifically targetted as an optional piece of Software.

PUP.Optional.PunctisPlugin.A

If you would like to dispute this then in this case you would have to take the legal channel as mysteryfcm stated.

Also it may help if you provide us with some information to go on here. Like a link to download the software and verify on our end and to retest it.

Thanks.
