Windows XP and MBA, pro: still starting windows after an hour

Recommended Posts

I installed mbam and checked the pro trial option to remove conduit. Mbam told me to restart after removing and I told it to do so. On restart, I got to the windows Xperia loading screen and it is still loading after an hour. This is an old computer with a zillion hard drives plugged into it, so I am guessing it is scanning every byte of these old drives. If I unplugged them, hey may be corrupted. If I stopped the computer, then the same might happen. If I wait, there is literally no way to say how long it will take. What should I do?

Hi and :welcome: , MatthewE:

Some XP users have had rebooting problems when trying to remove Conduit.

You'll need some expert help to get back up and running.

We can't do that sort of work in this section of the forum.

I would suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.

As you are having problems with restarting the system, you might not be able at this time to run the preliminary scanning tool (DDS).

So, please just start a NEW post >>HERE<< and explain the situation.
A malware analyst will guide you through the cleanup process.

Thanks,
