kt0 Posted February 17, 2014 ID:792422 Share Posted February 17, 2014 I just downloaded MBAM on windows vista and it says it hasnt been updated in 318 days. So I said sure lets update where I was met with a forever running -update connecting to server screen.and then it finally told me "An error has occurred. Please let the team know... PROGRAM_ERROR_UPDATING (0,0, Timeout)the update version is listed as v2013.04.04.07 I am connected to the internet while trying to update and I added MBAM to the firewall exclusion list ( I think), Also tried disabling firewall while trying to update. Good news is I ran the quick scan and it came up with nothing. I will run full scan overnight. Please be gentle I normally use an iMac so while I am at least partially computer literate I have not used a windows regularly in 5+yrs (this is my dads laptop) so I am not vista literate Thank you
daledoc1 Posted February 17, 2014 ID:792431 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Hi, kt0: Welcome. It's normal for the database packaged with the installer to be out of date. So, yes, that's to be expected. One does need to update the database after installation. It sure sounds as if it could be your security application/firewall blocking the update, but it could also be the result of infection or other problem. You might find this KB topic helpful: I'm getting an error when I update, ERROR_UPDATING_(numeric code &\or note)If it doesn't resolve your issue, please post back with both logs described below attached to your next reply.Someone will review them and make further recommendations, such as setting mutual exclusions between MBAM and your AV/firewall, checking for malware, etc. Thanks! daledoc1---------------------------------------------DDS InstructionsDownload DDS from one of the locations below and save it to your Desktop:dds.scrdds.comTemporarily disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware ProgramsOnce it is downloaded, you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed. Then double click dds.scr or dds.com to run the tool.Click the Run button if prompted with an Open File - Security Warning dialog box.A black DOS console should open and run for a moment. When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:DDS.txtAttach.txtSave both reports to your desktopPlease attach both of the following logs to your next reply: DDS.txt and Attach.txtYou can ignore the note about zipping the Attach.txt file in most cases.
