This Can't Be Possible

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Recently, I've noticed that my malwarebytes is blocking every adult video I try to downloadf from various adult sites. I understand

that these sites are often infected with malware in their videos, but it's only recently that malwarebytes is

blocking every video I try to download. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Hi, Montauk:

Are you talking about IP blocks when trying to load certain web sites, or malicious files being blocked?

Could you perhaps be a bit more specific about what is being blocked, what sorts of error or message from MBAM you are seeing?

If you are unable to load the web sites, these KB topics might help to answer your question:
How do you determine when an IP\website is malicious?
What does it mean when I get an IP alert about blocking a 'malicious' site?

If you are able to load the web site, but are using torrents or other P2P software to download, and that is triggering the blocks, then perhaps have a look at this:

Why does Malwarebytes Anti-Malware block BitTorrent or other Peer to Peer Clients?

Or it could well be that MBAM is doing its job by blocking IPs known for hosting potentially malicious content.

If you think the IP blocks are a false positive, you might want to follow the advice >>HERE<< and then please start a new post with the requested information (URL and IP) >>HERE<<.

If you think you have file detections that might be a false positive, then please follow the steps >>HERE<< and then please start a new post with the requested info (zipped files, VT links) >>HERE<<.

Thanks,

Hi daledoc1:)

My malwarebytes isn't blocking websites. It's not allowing the videos to load. I just get a black screen and the message at the bottom right of my screen. Below is a link to a screenshot of the message I receive whenever I try to view an xhamster video  for example. It's doing the same thing for a countless number other adult video sites. This problem is a recent one. I never had

this problem before. You might have to zoom in on the screenshot.

Well, then MBAM appears to be doing its job.

If you think that the IPs being blocked are a FP, then please follow the instructions in my earlier reply for reporting them.

P.S.  There's no need to post a full screen shot.  Please remove that attachment, if you can (I know you cannot edit your post, but you might be able to remove the attachment).  The only info needed is the IP address. Thanks.

What I can't understand is that I've had malwarebytes pro for a little over a year or so. Why now after all that time is it preventing my videos from playing. Everything

was fine not too long ago. I apologize for all this but I am no Bill Gates when it comes to computer skills.lol  I can report it, but what do I do to fix it? Like I mentioned, it doesn't block my access to the site. It just blocks the videos I want to view from loading. I'm also curious as to why Avast is included in the message from the malwarbytes at the bottom right of the screen.

It appears that it's not preventing the videos from "playing" -- it's preventing the content from being loaded from the IP that is being blocked.

The IP blocklist changes dynamically, day-to-day, as some IPs are cleaned and removed from the list, even as others are added for malicious content.

That IP shown in your screen shot may have been recently added.

This is all pretty much explained in detail better than I can do it in the links I provided earlier.

Like I mentioned, if you want the MBAM researchers to check those IPs, please follow my earlier suggestion for reporting them in the correct forum section.

>>ALSO, if you can, please just use the "More Reply Options" button to reply in your post -- the "Quote" button makes it hard to read and follow. Thanks!

P.S. Thanks for removing the screenshot from your later replies, but it's still >>HERE<<. ;)

Hi:

First, if you can, please use "More Reply Options" to reply, NOT the "Quote" button -- it will make things a lot easier for all of us.

Second, yes, it *is* blocking loading of the content because it is blocking an IP -- this is a screenshot from your screenshot:

The video isn't "playing" because MBAM is blocking the IP from which it is trying to load.

If MBAM is blocking the IP, then there is a good reason for that -- it is to protect you from harmful content that might infect your computer.

(It is "unrelated" to the specific issue that it appears to be blocking your AV, Avast!. That is explained >>HERE<<.)

So, once again, I would suggest that you start with the steps here, and then please start a new post in the website FP section here.

The MBAM researchers will determine if the IP block is or is not a FP, and whether the block can be removed or not.

Thanks!

By changing your browser that has not eliminated the issue as you probably have some type of malware on the computer.

I have removed the images from your post as new member cannot edit their posts due to issues we've had in the past.

I would suggest following the advice from the topic here Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers and having one of the Experts assist you with looking into your issue.

Thank you
