I can't get database updates at work, due to network restrictions on downloads.  I was thinking I could request that they open those ip addresses.

Alternatively, can I download the database updates as a separate file to apply locally?  It seems like this would be a good idea anyway, since some malware infestations cause loss of Internet access, especially, as you clean an infested PC.

Hi, TangleWeb: :)

EDIT: OOPS! I see that Expert John L. Galt has beaten me to it re: offline updates. ;)

A bit more info, if it helps.

Welcome.
Until the staff arrives, a couple of things...

1. Is this a personally-owned computer or one owned by your employer?
Use of MBAM on a work/educational/retail/enterprise computer requires different licensing to comply with the EULA.

2. I'm not sure that the staff can divulge the IPs. But you might be able to check with your firewall settings to add the following as a trusted site:

data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

3. You may be able to configure the MBAM updater settings for use with the proxy behind the firewall -- see screenshot.

4. Yes, there is a way to transfer the current database to a computer without internet access; you'll need another computer with MBAM to do so.  Moreover, since the definitions database is updated 10-12 times or more daily, to keep abreast of zero-hour threats, this wouldn't necessarily be a practical, long term solution.  The steps to do so are described here: FAQ - Common Issues, Questions, and their Solutions

Staff will undoubtedly have additional information/suggestions for you,

See if item #4 in this FAQ helps.

Copying the database would have been an option, thank you for the reply.  It turns out that adding in the proxy settings as described by daledoc1 worked.  I was unaware that MBAM doesn't use the system proxy settings.

This was a one-time thing, so I'm all set.

Thanks for the very prompt responses!
