MBAE: the killer app that will keep XP alive?

I've just read about, thought about, installed, and tested MBAE, which certainly seems like a great idea.

 

I can't help but wonder if MBAE (plus anti-virus) would provide protection enough so that Windows XP will be safe to use after Microsoft drops support... hmmmmmm...

It will certainly help but is not a replacement for security patches provided by the vendor. There will always be a higher risk of potential infection once security updates are discontinued by Microsoft. Creating an Image of your system now and backing up all your data to an external drive can go a long way in being able to easily recover if you were to become infected to a point where it could not be cleaned.

Great links, Ron.  I particularly love your personal take on registry cleaners - you wrote pretty much what I have been saying for a very long time now (really, since at least, if not before, my CoU days).
