update button not active

Hi, I have just updated my windows with version 8.1. I installed the free malwarebytes anti-malware and everything went ok. However the next 2 days I tried to do and update before scanning and the update button in the update tab was not active. I reinstalled the software and it gave me an update but the next night same thing about no active update button. Am I doing something wrong? or is there a problem?. I did not have this problem when I was using Windows XP.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with updates -- a grayed-out update button?

 

Did you install from a Windows user account with Admin rights or just limited user rights?

Are you logged into Windows in a limited user account?

 

See if this article helps: I'm trying to update but the 'Check for Updates' button is grayed out or unable to be clicked, why?
