If I understand post# 4 in https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=141111 correctly, a person can buy the Premium 3 PC 1 Yr product now, before MBAM 2.0 final is released, and it will be a lifetime license - the same as the current v1 1 PC license.
Am I correct in that understanding?

That thread states

When the Premium box product is installed, it checks to see if the new V2.0 is available. When it is, Premium will automatically download and install it along with the normal, renewable subscription license that comes with V2.0 and has been described in other forum posts.

However, until v2.0 is released (planned for late March 2014), the Premium box product installs the latest v1.75 product...and includes a TRANSFERABLE LIFETIME LICENSE

Does the MBAM Premium 3 PC product use the same ID/Key for the 3 PCs, or are there 3 different IDs/Keys?

If a person buys the 3 PC license and installs it on 1 PC now (before 2.0), how will the additional 2 licenses (PCs) be treated if they are installed after 2.0 is released? Lifetime or Annual?

I was showing a person MBAM and they want to get the real-time protection.
This person does not like to buy online and wants to purchase in-store.
I could not find any retailers in her area that sold the V1 Pro Lifetime product available in-store.
All I could find is the Premium 3 PC 1 Yr product, available in-store.

I'm trying to determine if I can tell her she can buy the Premium product now and it will be Lifetime, or she needs to purchase the Pro product online if she wants the lifetime license.

Thanks, David

I asked a similar question and got a response from Celee - see my post or just read her reply (quoted in its entirety) below:.

Hi John,

The current lifetime license model is one lifetime license for one PC.

We'll continue to honor that lifetime license for one PC. However, if you wish to cover three machines, you'll have to purchase three lifetime licenses right now or purchase one yearly subscription, which covers three PCs, when 2.0 and subscription is released.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Cecile

As for buying a 3 PC lifetime license *now* - I don't believe that is correct.  My understand is this:

Lifetime = 1 PC

Subscription = 3 PCs

Just received confirmation that the current Premium version will provide you with 1 lifetime license.

Current 1.75 purchases for Retail are also lifetime license 1 computer per license.

Once 2.0 is released there will be no further sales of the 1.75 product and all 2.0 sales will be on a yearly subscription basis that will cover up to 3 PCs.

Hi, andertrack723: :)

Yes, valid, consumer lifetime licenses for MBAM 1.xx PRO will be migrated/converted to lifetime licenses for MBAM 2.00 PREMIUM once the new version is released to the public.

They will remain lifetime and they will remain 1 license/computer.

(The new 2.00 licenses will be valid for 3 computers, but will require subscription renewal.)

Until 2.00 is released, the license keys for 1.xx will not work at this time with version 2.00 BETA.

  • They will eventually be migrated/converted to lifetime licenses for 2.00, but that is not yet supported.
  • If you would like to install  and test 2.00 BETA, please follow the instructions to uninstall 1.75 > reboot and then install/activate 2.00 BETA with the TEMPORARY license ID & key provided >>HERE<<.

So when 2.00 is released to the public will our 1.75 key work to activate 2.00 or will we be getting a new key?

k,good enough, i was just wondering what the migrate/convertion process will be,i guess stay tuned we'll see.

Exactly! ;)

I'm sure there will be an announcement when the time comes.

Until then, I wouldn't sweat it.

The MBAM folks will most certainly follow-through on their promise to honor the 1.xx lifetime licenses.

Thanks for your support.

Cheers,
