I have MBAM installed on a desktop computer and also on a laptop.  MBAM on the desktop runs well but the laptop always asks for administrator permission when I try and automate Updates and Scans.  How can I get around this so that it is self contained and does not require clicking yes which defeats the purpose of automation.

Do you have a license for each computer for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro ?

Please run the following on each computer and post back the log for each.

Please create an mbam-check log:

  • Download mbam-check.exe from here and save it to your desktop
  • Double-click on mbam-check.exe to run it, it should then open a log file
  • Please do not copy and paste the entire contents of the log into your next post, instead please attach the log CheckResults.txt file which should now be located on your desktop to your next post

Hi Adhemarrr01,

While we await the return of Advanced Setup.

If I interpreted your post correctly: Yes, I think this is normal behaviour. To make sure I understood your request an a bit more elaborate answer is given below.

When I want to use the tab  'Scheduler Settings' I need to run MBAM with administrator rights (or I'll get some error about admin-rights). So changing the schedule (adding, removing or editing tasks) requires administrative rights on my computer.

However once I'm pleased with the schedule, the tasks that I scheduled won't ask me for admin-rights every time they run. So when the schedule tells MBAM that it is time to update, MBAM updates and doesn't ask my for admin-rights each time. Same goes for the scans.

I believe this to be normal behaviour. (Though I don't know why MBAM needs administrative rights to change the schedule.)

Do you laptop and desktop still show different behaviour in scheduling scans and updates and/or the execution of scheduled scans and updates with respect to the requirement of administrative rights? You wrote something like that in your first post.

I noticed when I read the MBAM-check logs you posted that I didn't find any scheduled updates. Though I may have overlooked its presence, I'd like to point out that updates can be scheduled as well as scans.

I hope that my post was clear and that it will ease your mind somewhat while we await AS his return. As always, if you have any questions, or anything was unclear in my post, please post & ask.
