User error, Failed to Delete Threats

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I hope someone can help, and that this isn't a question that is asked a lot on the forums or google, because if so, I have failed to find them!

I am doing some maintenance on a family member's computer, and found a staggering amount of malware.  Over 700 pieces of it (most coming from Smartbar, ugh) Anyway, I was selecting them to be deleted, and I clicked the button to delete them, before I realised I hadn't gotten them all.  There are probably hundreds I accidentally failed to select for deletion.

So I thought, no problem, and ran the scan again, and they don't show up at all now.  Eek!

So does this mean I accidentally told the program to ignore those threats, because I failed to select them? How would I get the program to find those again?  I used the quick scan both times. and I started a full scan, but after five hours, I had to stop the scan due to other commitments.  I can peform a full scan at another time.  In the meantime it is going to drive me crazy knowing I missed so many threats.

Thanks!  And I do apologise if this has been answered before.

Hi Dunceling,

I read that you have malware problems. Please read Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers about assistance with cleaning up any mess.

That said you can check whether you accidentally white-listed them (unlikely) by checking the 'ignore list'-tab of the malwarebytes anti-malware (MBAM) user interface. See attached image.

I hoped this helped, if you have any questions, please post & ask.
