BSOD's, Program Hang Ups, and Laggy Browsing OH MY!

Been having issues with my computer. I tend to have program hang ups. Programs will just stop responding and my computer will freeze up for a while sometimes. Even when I can exit out the process will still be running, and I have to kill the process through the task manager. This happens with Firefox, Google Chrome, Adobe Audition, and probably other programs/applications that I'm not thinking of at the moment. Another thing is that more than one instance of a program/application will be running somewhere in the background when I open it up once. So when I exit out of the program I have to kill all of these processes through the task manager because they are still running for some reason. I also am getting PUP's everytime I scan with malware bytes no matter how many times I remove them, and restart my pc. I've gotten multiple BSOD's as well.

Hi, jaiz: :)

BSOD usually indicates hardware or driver problems, or a severe infection (rootkit).

Is this the same computer about which you recently reported similar problems a few weeks ago >>here<<?

If so, I would suggest following the advice of our forum Admin, AdvancedSetup, to seek help from the malware experts.

To do so, please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers

A malware analyst will assist you with running the necessary tools and with getting your system cleaned & repaired.

If it's a different system, the advice would be the same. ;)

Once your malware helper gives you the "all clear", he or she might refer you back here for any other, non-malware problems, if needed.

Thanks,

Hi I guess I don't have automatic e-mail notifications setup. Yes I only have one computer and was given these same instructions as last time so I posted this in a different section, and being told to do the same thing. I came for direct assistance as I did those steps which didn't fix my issues. I was able to get help right away each time I think. I already posted this to the anti-malware help section. I'm confused and lost as to what I'm supposed to do to receive help right away as before.

Hi, Jaiz:

If I understand correctly, you are having a problem with BSODs, program hang ups and other performance problems on your computer?

You posted first in December in the General MBAM Help Section >>here<< and then again in *this* thread here in the PC Help section for the same computer problems.

What Firefox and I tried to explain is:

  • These sorts of problems can be the result of hardware issues, driver problems or (sometimes) serious infection (such as rootkits).
  • Generally, it's advisable to FIRST exclude any sort of malware problem, as that needs to be fixed before other problems can be safely addressed.
  • We aren't allowed to run the tools & repairs necessary for malware removal in General MBAM help section or in this section of the forum.

That's why we both pointed you towards the correct section of the forum for help with possible malware-related problems. :)

So, please try to do the following and someone will assist you for free, one-on-one, as soon as a helper is available:

  1. Print out, read and follow as best you can the advice here: I'm Infected - What Do I Do Now?
  2. Start a NEW post (including the requested DDS logs, if possible) in the malware removal section of the forum >>HERE<<.
  3. Please be patient waiting for an expert helper, as the forum can be quite busy and many experts are volunteers.

Once you get the "all-clear" from your malware helper, he or she MIGHT refer you back here, if there are other, unrelated problems that need fixing.

Thanks for your patience,

No problem. :)

It can be confusing and stressful.

Sometimes there are MANY, different things happening with one computer, all at the same time.

In general, though, it's best to exclude & remove malware first.

And the forum rules are that this sort of work needs to be done in the dedicated forum sub-section, with dedicated, one-on-one, expert help.

>>Please be patient -- most of the helpers there are volunteers.  Someone will assist you as soon as possible.

Thanks,
