new hard drive

Recommended Posts

Hi, scotty229:

To best answer your question, it would depend on the status of the old hard drive.

Currently, consumer licenses for use on personal home computers are lifetime and transferable; but each license can only be used on 1 computer at a time.

If the old hard drive is still usable, "best practices" would be to follow the procedure to TRANSFER your license: How do I transfer a licensed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO to my new computer?

In essence, you'll use the removal tool to completely remove your license ID/key info from the old drive before using the data to activate MBAM PRO on the new one.

If the old hard drive is unrecoverable, then you'll just need to use the ID and key to activate MBAM PRO on the new drive.

The license ID/key will be in a confirmation email from the reseller, Cleverbridge, if you purchased online.

It will be in the box (card or CD sleeve) if you purchased a boxed retail version.

Either way, you'll want to install from a download (as per the procedure linked above), NOT from the CD.

You just need the ID and key.

You might want to contact the helpdesk directly to inform them of the situation, just to be sure your license ID/key won't be blacklisted for violating the 1 license-1computer policy.
