Hi,

So, once again , what is left behind on our computers AFTER we uninstall MBAM?

"Hello and welcome to the helpdesk. Thank you for choosing Malwarebytes as your security solution, my name is Tom Mercado and I'll be assisting you today.

Please read the following thread in our forums about this message:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=13312

That being said, we recommend a custom uninstall using the following third party uninstaller

http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninst...e_download.html

Reboot the system.

Then run this clean up tool:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-clean.exe"

Why is necesarry to use Revo uninstaller to compleatly remove MBAM when there is a MBAM Cleanup tool?

A registry key is left behind which isn't removed by our cleanup tool; As we don't know if you want to reinstall later or not, and we'd rather not inconvenience you if that's the case.

Also on a fair amount of users machines the clean up tool throws errors and won't run, so Revo works nice and I even at times have them use a registry cleaner as well.

Hi,

As long as only ONE registry key (A registry key is left behind ) is left behind isn't easier to manually remove it rather than run a pottentialy troublemaker like Revo???

Unless is a " special" registry key and MBAM developers do not want to disclose its location and function.... :D

Thanks,

I go with what works and is easiest for our users, doing anything manually is generally not a good idea with many users, many lack alot of the basic skills of pc use.

It's never a good idea to suggest manual editing of the registry if you don't know the users skill level. Better to leave the key. And as I said, the key is left behind in the event you wish to reinstall; You won't have to re-enter your registration information.

I don't understand why 'Revo' is a 'potentially a troublemaker'; i think it's an outstanding product which by default sets a restore point, clearly identifies any proposed removals after the application's built in uninstaller and allows user modication as well as seeking user agreement to continue. In the context of this issue, in my experience, it works perfectly. MBAM's hidden installs cannot hide from the mightly Revo! :D
