hi,

i was told to open a new topic here for my hijack log

I've got a problem with my laptop

ive got it running vista 32 bit,

cpu: amd athlon x2 dual core QL-62 2.00Ghz

mm: 3gb (ddr2 i think)

and after enyoing my laptop,

its started to lag at a lot of games all of a sudden.

examp.

(burnout paradise city, shaun white SB, Prince of Persia

but the most anoying is CoD 4)

really ackword.

problem:

wen i play a game all of a sudden i hear my van speed up. and my fps drops about 75%

this is on evry game!!(except old ones ofcourse)

I tried to google the problem but no succes so far.

when i read my taskmanager while the high cpu usage is goin

i see multiple proccesses who use cpu(doh)

-audiodg.exe +\- 10% cpu

-1 or more svchosts.exe (between 3 and 30% the 1 using 30% is usually bout 80.000kb

-explorer.exe

-dwm.exe

-system

-taskmgr

so i looks to me like its one of the svchost.exe

while googling i found a lot of svchost related problems and issues.

so i dont really know where the start.

I already tried the windows update service, windows driver foundation service, windows defender(uses 30%cpu sometimes for nothing).

with the "proces explorer" program still nothing

I only find a program always runnin, thats had been higlighted in brown (WmiPrvSe.exe), always using little amount of cpu

I hope some of u could help me with this issue.

after doing full scan with the MB malware program, it found no infections.

so i made a hijack log.

thats usefull to some right?

Hi,

I see you have Trendmicro Internet Security installed. This one may be the main problem of your slowdown. It's a good Antivirus, but on some systems it causes a HUGE slowdown.

So, what I suggest here is - please temporary uninstall Trendmicro Internet Security, reboot and let me know if that solved it. Disabling won't help since you really need to uninstall to properly troubleshoot.

Also, please uninstall the Ask Toolbar since this one is not recommended.

Hi,

Please uninstall Trendmicro anyway, because even though you disable it during games, A LOT of components are loaded.

We need to remove potential causes first - and I know Trendmicro Internet Security is a HUGE resource hog.

It is really the only way to properly troubleshoot - even though you installed it afterwards.

You can reinstall it afterwards again once we could find the cause.

We will also need to disable, maybe temporary uninstall some other programs as well, or disable via msconfig. That's the only way to troubleshoot. In anyway, disabling an Antivirus won't work since too many components stay active/loaded, so that's why we ask to temporary uninstall.

Can you also disable Windows defender via Msconfig? This also temporary.

By the way, the desktop enhancement tools you have installed (Stardock) is certainly causing a system delay as well.

Then reboot and post a new HijackThislog in your next reply

Hi,

Nothing has changed in your log either but that's because your log is the same one as the first one you've posted.

Please run HijackThis.exe as administrator and let it overwrite your log and post it here.

BTW, startdock always stays active, because it's a desktop enhancement tool.

By the way, after rereading your first post and the "problems" you are talking about - your main problem is the lag in games...

Not sure if you are aware of the fact that some games DO cause a lag, especially since this is Vista. Have you ever tried the games under XP Compatibility and Administrator privileges? (Rightclick the executable, for example COD4 > (since you're dutch, eigenschappen > compatibiliteit > aanvinken: Dit programma als administrator uitvoeren en Compatibiliteitsmodus XP aanvinken).

Hi,

This looks OK. Nothing more you can do to improve speed except to add more RAM - especially when you're a gamer and this is Vista - because it is KNOWN that many games lag on Vista. Most gamers will admit that.

ill try doin tha compatibility thing, i saw i earlier but dont know if it will rlly help.
Yes, please try that.

Anyway, as I said, there's nothing more we can do at this stage since this is no malware problem at all. That's why I suggest you register at the COD forum and ask for tips how to improve speed on Vista computers (apart from adding RAM):

hi thx for the help,

compatibility thing doesnt work, i see no improvement at all.

but what i find very od is that CoD4 used to run with a FPS of 40 on the settings i had.

and it ALWAYS played fps round 40, but then latly it changed. so i rlly dont know whats happening, and i dont think thats because of vista.

i dont wanne be rude or so.

but thats how it is

played very good

not any more:(

I am sorry that I cannot help you with this. This is no malware related issue, so whatever you've changed previously is the cause why it suddenly lags now.

But if I were you, I would post in the COD forum anyway, or at least read there. Then you'll see how many people are having this on Vista.
