Please run the following scanner and send back the logs.

Download DDS from one of the locations below and save to your Desktop
dds.scr
dds.com

Temporarily disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.
How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.
Then double click dds.scr or dds.com to run the tool.
Click the Run button if prompted with an Open File - Security Warning dialog box.
A black DOS console should open and run for a moment.

  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop
  • Please include the following logs in your next reply as an attachment: DDS.txt and Attach.txt
  • You can ignore the note about zipping the Attach.txt file and just post it or attach it.

Having problems updating Malewarebytes.

Just installed Malewarebytes again-4th time.

Keep getting Program_Error_Updating(0,0,Host not found)

Put Microsoft Essential on Ignore List of Malwarebytes

Put Malwarebytes on exceptions list of Firewall

Put Malwarebytes on excluded processes in Microsoft Essentials

Any suggestions?

Have service pack 2 and 3 installed

Hello and :welcome: , johnramus:

OOPS! :)

It appears that you have an identical post about this issue, and that our forum Admin, AdvancedSetup, replied to you >>HERE<< ?

It would minimize confusion if you would please follow his advice to post back with some DDS scan logs in that other topic.

He or another staff member/expert will review the logs and make some recommendations about how to proceed to resolve your updating issues.

Thanks!

From the logs i see that your hostsfile seems to be hijacked. Its also blocking Microsoft Antimalwaresupdates from the error log in attach.txt

6/01/2014 6:20:59 PM, error: Microsoft Antimalware [2001]  - Microsoft Antimalware has encountered an error trying to update signatures.     New Signature Version:      Previous Signature Version: 1.163.631.0     Update Source: Microsoft Malware Protection Center     Update Stage: Search     Source Path: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=121721&clcid=0x409&arch=x86&eng=1.1.10100.0&avdelta=1.163.631.0&asdelta=1.163.631.0&prod=EDB4FA23-53B8-4AFA-8C5D-99752CCA7094     Signature Type: AntiVirus     Update Type: Full     User: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE     Current Engine Version:      Previous Engine Version: 1.1.10100.0     Error code: 0x80072ee7     Error description: The server name or address could not be resolved

Hosts: 127.0.0.1    www.spywareinfo.com

We have to restore the hosts file.

you can go here.

http://www.funkytoad.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=13&Itemid=31

And download hostsxpert.

Unzip the file to a folder and run Hostsxpert. Hit restore MS hosts.

That should fix your updates with both programs.

After you restore the hosts you may possibly have to reboot for it to take affect.

Thanks Guys for your assistance in this matter.

I think this is getting beyond my very limited expertese.

I think I will take my laptop and problem to someone who knows more than I do (which wouldn't take very much!!!!)

Thanks again for trying.

I really do appreciate your efforts

Thanks again

John
