Somebody at the Amazon.com page I told you about said, "I assume you are talking about renewals. I believe the catch here is that it is lifetime, until you get a new computer."

Is this so?  Is the lifetime subscription for the user -- or for the user's hardware? I ask this because I have Windows XP and a 7-year-old computer that has to be replaced soon.

Hi:

There are often typos and errors in the product info on 3rd-party websites.

I will forward this information to the marketing team for investigation.

Thanks for alerting us.

Our forum Admin, AdvancedSetup has the correct info, of course:  Currently, consumer licenses for MBAM PRO for home use are a single-purchase, "lifetime" license that can be used on one computer at a time.

If you're not sure about some of these other offers, you can always purchase directly from the official reseller partner, Cleverbrige >>HERE<<.

If you do purchase via this route, there is a discount for multiple licenses purchased at the same transaction.

So, if you have more than 1 computer to protect, you might want to take advantage of that.

Cheers,

Unless I missed it I didn't see Lifetime anywhere on the tiger direct link. I did find another Amazon link with lifetime in the description here:

How can someone sell Malwarebytes Anti-Malware if it is not the Pro version, since the trial version of Pro lasts only two weeks?

And isn't the Pro version lifetime?  Doesn't that mean that any boxed version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware would have to be the Pro version, and therefore have a lifetime license?

The license currently is for lifetime and is for your use on a single computer.  If you want to move it to another computer you can but you need to remove it from the old one.

Okay, here's three scenarios that could cause problems:

(1) What happens if you're not able remove Malwarebytes Anti-malware from your computer before re-formatting it?  I had this very thing happen when I got a ransomware that didn't allow me to save anything before I re-formatted.  Will the license not work when I got to (re-)install Malwarebytes Anti-malware on the re-formatted PC?

(2) What happens if my computer is destroyed by a flood or a power surge caused by electrical storm which my surge suppressor should have blocked but didn't?  Would I be able to use the Malwarebytes Anti-malware license on its replacement PC?

(3) What happens if my computer is stolen and I want to put Malwarebytes Anti-malware on its replacement?

The only reason I'd like to get the boxed version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is that it comes with an installation disc.

If I buy Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from https://store.malwarebytes.org/342/purl-consumer $24.95 and want an installation disc, it costs $9.95 to add a To The Rescue! CD, which brings the total to $34.90.

Why do I want an installation CD?  It's because when I get malware that makes me re-format, I am worried about the possibility of going to spoof sites to download crucial programs like McAfee SecurityCenter and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, both of which I want on my machine as soon as possible so I don't get re-infected.

The installer is all that is needed and is always available freely from many sites on the Internet as well as from us.  If you need a copy you can easily burn it to your own CD, though as said it's just as easy to download from us anytime its needed.

The license is what activates it.

In your scenarios above 1 and 2 would both indicate that the previous version is no longer running so there is no issue to reinstall on a new computer as long as you're only activating it on one computer.

The $12 deal from TigerDirect is about the best one I've seen for a while so you may want to look at getting it if you're going to get one.   The best I've ever seen and I've only seen it once in 5 years was $9 so I don't think you're going to find it less than the $12 from TigerDirect anytime soon.

I think your message explains everything.  Thank you.

One reason I wanted to buy Malwarebytes Anti-Malware in box form is that it will (I assume) have the license number on the sleeve of the installation CD-ROM comes in so if I ever lost the license stored on my PC or on CD-R, DVD-R or Flash Drive, I would still be able to activate the Pro version.

I am saying this because I would need the licence after re-installing Windows and all my drivers after a re-format and wouldn't want to run around on the web looking for the exact relevant page before my newly re-formatted PC is protected.  I have Windows XP, so I am only able to install my anti-virus program (McAfee SecurityCenter) after downloading and installing Internet Explorer 7, for some reason.  And yes, I am working on buying a new computer before Windows XP expires.

Not a problem and yes the registration is on a card in the box. I would highly suggest you also save/store a copy in your Documents folder just in case you lose that card. With an online purchase we can locate and provide you with your license but with the Retail version if you lose it we will not be able to help you.

Some programs ask you to enter a registration code to activate their software and subsequently they perhaps have access to it online should it ever have to be retrieved.

It's good to know that Malwarebytes isn't one of them so I'm extra careful not to lose the license code.  Thanks for the tip.

  • 5 months later...

MBAM Pro Lifetime still available as I write (in the USA) at:

http://www.amazon.com/Malwarebytes-2013-Anti-Malware-Pro-Lifetime/dp/B00AY016T0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1403686992&sr=8-1&keywords=Malwarebytes+2013+Anti-Malware+Pro+Lifetime

However I am a UK resident and the UK Amazon shows no such item. The US version looks like it will not be eligible for international shipping. Any ideas please?
