Hi, hkw:

I recently upgraded to KIS2014 on all my rigs.

The GUI has changed a bit, but the general process is identical to 2013.

NOTE: As suggested by KL, I temporarily uninstalled MBAM PRO for the upgrade and then reinstalled it after installing/activating/configuring KIS.

KIS automatically placed MBAM in the "trusted" group of applications.

However, to avoid potential conflicts, I set the specific exclusions for MBAM in KIS.

There is an excellent, illustrated tutorial explaining the process here: How to configure application rules and other resources protection in Kaspersky Internet Security 2014

Specifically, when you get to step 5, there will be 4 listings for MBAM exe files.

For each of the 4 entries:

Right-click on the item and select the "details and rules" item in the context menu.

Then click the "exclusions" tab.

Place a check in each of the available checkboxes.

Then click the "save" button.

You'll repeat the process for each of the 4 MBAM processes.

A representative screenshot for the mbam.exe exclusions is below.

FWIW These are the files you'll exclude:

For Windows XP:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\ mbamscheduler.exe

For Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\ mbamscheduler.exe

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware \ mbamscheduler.exe

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE and MBAMSERVICE.EXE from it as well

Note: Once that's done, you can verify that the following is a trusted site (but I personally have not found it to be necessary for KIS):

data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

The FAQ contains examples of setting file exclusions for some other, popular AV products.

I recently became a premium member but find Malwarebytes prevents Norton Internet Security LiveUpate from running on my Vista PC but there is no problem with it on my Windows 7 PC. Are there any similar exclusions that I could use, or any other ideas apart from not running Norton and malwarebytes at the same time ??

Hello and :welcome: , thrasher1:

This is actually a rather old topic, based on what is now an outdated MBAM version.

So, I suggest the following.

First, you may wish to use the current "exclusions" between the current versions of Norton and MBAM.
The screenshot shows how to exclude the entire AV folder (in this case KIS) from MBAM.
And the files listed below are the mbam files to exclude in Norton.

If that doesn't resolve your issue, please start a NEW, SEPARATE topic using this clickable cjfj.png button.
The staff and experts will be able to more easily provide you with individual help to get you up and running.

Thanks for your patience and understanding,

Please exclude the following files from your Antivirus Software for your version of Windows:

For 32 bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamresearch.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamresearch.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware \mbamscheduler.exe

Note: If you are using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall, you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE, MBAMSERVICE.EXE and MBAMRESEARCH.EXE from it, as well.

Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:

data-cdn.mbamupdates.com
