Is this an FP: "Trojan.FakeMS"

Recommended Posts

A full scan found this:

Files Detected: 1
C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-nslookup_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_29a6795f7d1218c6\nslookup.exe (Trojan.FakeMS) -> No action taken.

I did some google searches and though there was confusing info out there,  my feeling is it was likely a False Positive, so I took no action.

I did a full scan within 12 hours and nothing was found.

So, what do the experts think, was this a False Positive?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt.

I did a full scan within 12 hours and nothing was found.

This would suggest a F/p scenario where we have fixed/removed the faulting signature.

To put your mind at rest if you would like then please zip and attach a copy of that file and i can verify this.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the fast replies!  This is the first time I have had to come here for support, and didn't know what to expect.

I paid for the pro version of MBAM, and based on this amazing support, I am glad I did!

Much appreciated,

Matt
