You messed up my computer up. It was working perfect until your trial expired. Five minutes later, it's like someone is in control of my computer. everything is hijacked, including renaming directory's and changing default folders. This i horrible. I was just about to purchase this. Now i have to completely renew my computer because i cant trust anyone. Honestly what satisfaction do you get from this kind of malicious bullshit. I honestly don't get it. And don't tell me it wasn't you. Because i'm not the only one who has experienced this type of behavior. Come on! Why do this to a potential customer. It's like mechanic filling gas tanks with sugar. Sure, you'll catch a few sorry sap suckers in the beginning but eventually everyone will catch on, and out the window goes your integrity. But of course you don't care about that right?

Hello, thisbytes:

Welcome.

I understand that you are upset.

However, "we" did not **** your computer.

MBAM does not "control" your computer, before or after the expiration of a trial.

One might assume your reason for installing MBAM was that you thought you might be infected?

If so, then it is the MALWARE that is interfering with your computer's performance, not MBAM.

Some of today's serious malware, such as rootkits, can profoundly damage the system all the way down to the Windows OS.

This pinned topic contains some general explanations: The complexity of finding, preventing, and cleanup from malware

There is free, expert, one-on-one malware assistance here at the forum.

To start, please follow the advice here as best you can: "I'm Infected - What Do I Do Now?"

Then, please start a NEW post in the malware removal section, with the requested logs & explaining the problem, >>HERE<<.

One of the malware experts will assist you with trying to remove the infections and repair the damage.

Having said all that, you will need please to refrain from the use of profanity/obscenities in your forum communications, per forum policy, general "netiquette" and common courtesy.

Thanks,

I didn't have this problem before, I installed MBAM because i was looking for an alternative to Symantec and /or McAfee I just wanted to see what it was about. I'm on a fresh install of windows barely 40 days old. Sorry about the profanity but my god, when it takes you a whole day to re-install a computer operating system and all the software such as adobe, and auto-cad. You have to understand how frustrating this is. Especially when i just got done doing so. And i must mention this all happened with in 1 hr of receiving the notification to renew. It's just funny how I haven't done anything but facebook and photoshop, dreamweaver. and i'm having these issues.

For the record, MBAM is not an anti-virus and is not a substitute for one: Does Malwarebytes Anti-Malware replace antivirus software?

If you've been on the internet without a robust, real-time anti-virus (AV) -- especially on FB and other social networking sites prone to malware -- then there is a good chance you might be infected.

And again, to reiterate, it is most likely the malware itself and the damage it caused that is at the root of your issues, as explained in the pinned topic for which I provided the link in my earlier reply.

The bottom line is this: the only way to know for sure and to start to resolve the problem will be to get expert help over in the malware removal section, as previously suggested.

(We cannot work on malware-related issues in this particular section of the forum.)

If you would like help, please follow the suggestions in my earlier reply.

Thank you,

i certainly wish i could type faster ...

indeed , the behaviors the OP described (reading between the profanity/obscenities) are not those of malwarebytes after the expiration of a trial version .

think about it ... just exactly what would malwarebytes have to gain by such actions ?

"I installed MBAM because i was looking for an alternative to Symantec and /or McAfee" .

as advertising describes/mentions ... malwarebytes is not an "antivirus" (by definition of the term) ... it is an antimalware program that is designed more specifically to "catch" malware based threats .

i have several friends that have had their trial full version of malwarebytes expire (reverting to the free mode) and have not experienced the effects you mentioned .
