Very touching.

Reminds me when I was working in Jakarta Indonesia and I took the sort walk from my hotel to the building where I worked and had take a bridge to cross over a creek that looked and smelled like an open sewer that had tin shacks where people lived on the banks cooking on open fires. I spoke to the people that worked there and they said that's normal and that I was crazy for walking there but I said that it was $10.00US to take a taxi half a block which was crazy plus it took twice the time due to the traffic.

The reason why I noticed was that everything there was with rice and not a French fry to be seen.

Look up Nasi goreng.

It was available everywhere from street vendors in Jakarta that used the water from the local creek to cook the rice.

The locals warned me not to buy it even though it was very inexpensive as it could lead to serious illness as my immune system was not used to the microbes there.

Ever hear of Montezuma's revenge when visiting Mexico?
