Malwarebytes Malicious website blocker

Recommended Posts

Hello, everyone.

My name Is Nick and I'm new to Malwarebytes. I've been getting tons and tons of website blocks here are the ip adresses.

89.28.122.26 <--- This one appears every single minute. (Literally everyminute on the dot)
222.186.19.7 <--- This one only appeared once while I was browsing the internet
222.186.19.19 <--- This one appears every 5minutes
I've searched their locations and most of them claim to be from China, but I found an IP tracer from a random internet forum and it told me that "89.28.122.26" is from v and another user is having the same issue. Forum here
218.8.209.137 <---- Appeared while I was typing what was above.

Okay that is the situation, but my questions are:
  • Can someone teach me how to block them completely?
  • Can you help me become a better malwarebytes user?
  • Are they dangerous or just false detections?
  • Is there any helpful information I should know?

I am looking forward to a responce from this community, please help me.

Hello and :welcome:

IP blocks can indicate a number of things:

  • They could indicate that MBAM is doing its job of blocking bad content on websites.
  • In some cases the blocks are a false positive.
  • However, they can also be a sign of infection, especially if the blocks are outgoing and they occur when no browsers are open.
--> There is more information about the IP blocking module in the in the Help Desk topics HERE and HERE and HERE, and in the FAQ - Section G.

They also contain instructions on how to determine what process might be trying to make the connections.

You may also research the IP in question at www.ip-lookup.net or a similar site.

On the other hand, if you think the IP blocks might be a false positive, then please read this pinned topic before starting a new topic in the Website False Positives sub-forum.

Alternatively, if you think you might be infected, based on the IP blocks and/or other suspicious computer behavior, then please read the following for the available options to have a malware expert assist you with the cleaning process Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.

Thanks!

Downloading torrents will definitely cause these IP blocks and a lot of sites/places where these torrents reside are used to also spread viruses and malware. This is also a good way to get infected.... that being said, if you would like to turn off the notifications so you do not see the blocks, that can be done.

To disable IP block notifications open Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and click on the Protection tab. Uncheck the box next to Show tooltip balloon when malicious website is blocked. then close Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

There should be no more notifications when a malicious site is blocked but the IP blocker will still be working :).
