Unable to scan and pick up computers from AD

Recommended Posts

Hi,

We recently installed MEE and since then have been unable to scan and pick up computers from OUs in AD.

The scan only detects or even scans a small percentage (10%) of the exisiting computers.

An example of the post-scan message:

IP Addresses scanned: 574 - Computers found: 14 - Computers not found: 560

The problem is the same whether scanning by OUs or IP addreses.

Other Information: Client Communication port: 18457 - Server Administration port: 443.

Any help in helping resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi Ejpmwb and welcome to the forums,

Can we check the following ports are open during the scan as well as the below settings are enabled for testing.

Server Ports:
53: Domain Name Services (DNS) lookups
137: NetBIOS Name Resolution
139: NetBIOS Session Service
389: Active Directory (AD) authentication (if MEE is installed on the same server as Active Directory)
443: Communications between Management Console and MEE Server
18457: Communications with MEE clients

Client Ports:
135: Process control related to file transfers to/from server
137: NetBIOS Name Resolution
445: File transfers from server associated with install, uninstall and simulations

Windows firewall - disabled
Network discovery - enabled
File and Printer sharing - enabled
NetBIOS (default settings) - enabled
Ensure there are no GPO blocks including TCP, UDP and ACL's.
For Windows XP, please ensure .NET Framework 3.5 is installed.

After checking these settings, can we try importing the clients from ad again?
