Ability to ignore specific file types not just entire folders?

Recommended Posts

I wish to ignore certin file types whih are very large. Namel, camera photo RAW data files *.nef. I set AntiMaleware to ignore anythig in the "My Pictures" files are located but that causes two problems 1) It will exclude ANY file in that directory (i.e. executable files), and 2) The .nef file types scattered about the hard drive will not be exculded.

Is there a way to exclude specfifc file types in the ignore list:? If not, would you PLEASE consider adding it? You already have quite a bit of code invested in the current "Ignore File" section. It should not be too much trouble to expand upon it to add 'specific' files.

Hi avpman,

Though MalwareBytes AntiMalware (MBAM) offers the option to scan the whole drive (I think) it's generally advised to just use the quickscan and only when that finds something to look at the 'full scan'. I don't think that the 'quick scan' will scan your picture folder. You can find more about the different types of scans over here.

But that's just mitigating the problem. I believe this subforum is used to post suggestions for MBAM. You could post your suggestion over there and with a bit of luck a MBAM employee will react.

Hi, avpman: :)

Thanks for your suggestion.

I'm pretty sure it has been made before.

I don't recall the official response re: ignoring specific file types. :(

In addition to Durew's excellent information & until an MBAM staffer can provide an official answer to your inquiry....

It appears that you have an identical topic in the "Comments and Suggestions" section >>HERE<<?

The mod team may wish to consolidate/merge your posts, to reduce a bit of forum clutter. ;)

Cheers,
