Ransom Trojan

Recommended Posts

Hi Dave,

First of all: Welcome to the forum

If the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-malware (MBAM) could detect the trojan than the paid version would be able to so as well. Since the paid version (MBAM PRO) offers real-time protection so it should have been able to prevent the trojan from infecting your computer.

To help prevent getting infected again I'd advise you read this article and act accordingly. MBAM Pro is not mentioned in the article but, I recommend looking into it as well.

As already mentioned above by Durew, yes if you would have had the PRO version it most likely would have prevented the infection in the first place.

Keep in mind though not any one product is 100% effective. You have to make sure to keep your system up to date with all updates to all software installed to help prevent exploits.
