Malwarebytes not running, malwarebytes anti root kit not working

I started noticing strange behavior on my computer and then decided to run Malwarebytes. It used to run but now recently it doesn't start anymore. I tried to run MBAM in charmeleon mode but it didn't work either, it gets stuck on the update process.

I took a suggestion by trying to run MBAR. MBAR runs but somewhere during the scan my computer freezes, and the screen goes black. At this point I have to reboot.

The fact that I can't run MBAR or MBAM makes me think there is something on my computer. What can I do now?
