↑  Hi

I'm guessing that your current PC Monitor's Resolution is not set to meet the minimum requirements of the HP installation software.

It appears that your vertical resolution is set to 576 and the HP software requires 600 .

(This refers to Windows 7)

From your Desktop screen, right-click on the Desktop.  You should see a menu that has a choice called "Screen Resolution".

Depending on your Video Card resolution availability of options, choose a setting that will change your Monitor to a minimum of 600 vertical resolution.

What happens when you try to adjust your screen resolution with the sliding adjuster button? Are you getting an error when you try to increase your screen resolution from 1024 x 576 .....

I just read CWB's link post.  That should get your problem resolved.

The slider wouldn't move.

Have just found that was only on the primary screen and it will move on the secondary screen so should work following CWB instructions and changing back after installation.

Thanks all for help.

:D  good point..... which way?  1491ggn.jpg

ehhh ... i am a realist as opposed to a fatalist .

an optimist says a glass is half full of water .

a pessimist says that the glass is half empty .

an engineer says that the amorphous silicon dioxide based cylindrically shaped containment vessel is twice as large as it needs to be .

@ OP :

did you "tell" it to save the settings ?

You can try creating a new System Restore Point and then you might try updating the video driver for the computer - though it has not had an update for many years.

I'd first check on the product support site for your laptop and if they don't have a newer driver there then you can try the one from Intel.

Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows* XP (exe)

This file is written specifically for the desktop Intel® 945G, 945GC, 945GT, and 945GZ Express Chipsets and the Mobile Intel® 940GML, 943GML, 945GM, and 945GMS Express Chipsets.

Though this might be a better link which will allow Intel to automatically detect any Intel based hardware and offer a newer driver if they have one.
Again, first make sure to create a new System Restore Point just in case.

Intel® Driver Update Utility

Thanks

Advanced Setup I think what you suggest is a bit beyond me.

I downloaded this whole installation from the HP website and it said it is the latest drivers.

I think I am missing a trick somehow and cannot see how to stop it reverting back.

Here is a pic of the secondary screen and yes I did apply it, selected to make it the primary screen and OK'd it but as soon as I continued the installation it reverts back.

doh! sorry about that, missed it as part of the title.

Don't see any dual screens here though looks like a regular laptop to me so not sure why it's offering another screen being active.  Normally the other one is not available unless there is another active monitor hooked up.
