I can not update malwarebytes to the latest definition. It reports an error upon connecting to the internet.

I can not open a command window or run a dos application. The screens blinks, goes black and then comes back.

Combofix does not run - it needs a command window. It acts like it is extracting and then the screen blinks, goes black and returns.

I tried this in safe mode with the same results.

Safe mode with command prompt is a blank screen. I had to press the power button to get out of that mode.

I am not sure what to try next.
