Security concern about Google Chrome extensions

Hello everyone,

I have recently started to install Google Chrome extensions, but I have always been worried that they can steal my passwords, or do something evil sometime.

Here are my questions:

-Could an extension steal my data?

-Could it log my keystrokes while I'm browsing?

-Could it steal my cookies?

-Could it download and execute a malicious EXE on my computer?

-Does Google check extensions and what they do before submitting them to the Chrome App Store?

Thanks.

I use Chrome because it is a lot faster than browsers like Firefox and IE. I started using Chrome when I got frustrated with IE for the tenth time that day. It just wouldn't load the page that I wanted, and it was lagging like crazy. I switched to Chrome and it loaded all of the pages instantly, with no lag while viewing them.

Anyway, back to the point. I started using extensions, and I don't know if I can trust them. My main question is this: Does Google check extensions before putting them on the Chrome Store? If they do, I will be able to trust my extensions.

Does anyone know if they do? It would be greatly appreciated if I could get an answer for this question.

I would greatly appreciate an answer for that question.

Thank you very much.
