Various PC Issues

Recommended Posts

I am running Win7, ie10, Avast! free antivirus, and Comodo Firewall.

My computer will randomly shutdown after going into sleep mode-- not hibernate (I have that disabled) and restarting takes forever (and states was shut down unexpectedly.)

Also, random internet windows will open into a screen that says things like "You're not connected to a network" or that various programs need to be updated (flash, adobe, activeX, etc.) even if I'm currently browsing the internet and/or using the programs that supposedly need updated.

I've used SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, and HiJackThis as well as the scans provided at safety.live.com and nothing has fixed these issues.

It's getting very frustrating, especially now that I'm working from home on this computer.

Thank you in advance.

Hello and :welcome:

Please run the following scanner and send back the logs.

Download DDS from one of the locations below and save to your Desktop

Temporarily disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.

How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.

Then double click dds.scr or dds.com to run the tool.

Click the Run button if prompted with an Open File - Security Warning dialog box.

A black DOS console should open and run for a moment.

  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
  • DDS.txt
  • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop
  • Please include the following logs in your next reply as an attachment: DDS.txt and Attach.txt

You can ignore the note about zipping the Attach.txt file

Shutting down is rarely due to an infection.  You could probably use a bit of maintenance on the computer and nothing wrong with checking for an infection.

I see the following errors from the Event Logs of the system.

==== Event Viewer Messages From Past Week ========.10/8/2013 9:22:26 PM, Error: Service Control Manager [7024]  - The PS3 Media Server service terminated with service-specific error The system cannot join or substitute a drive to or for a directory on the same drive..10/10/2013 8:57:39 AM, Error: Schannel [36888]  - The following fatal alert was generated: 40. The internal error state is 107.10/10/2013 8:57:39 AM, Error: Schannel [36874]  - An SSL 3.0 connection request was received from a remote client application, but none of the cipher suites supported by the client application are supported by the server. The SSL connection request has failed..==== End Of File ===========================

If you would like to check for an infection and do some general cleanup I would suggest following the advice from the topic here Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers and having one of the Experts assist you with looking into your issue.
