What are you watching ?

Recommended Posts

Here's a few things I've been watching lately:

  • A Good American [fascinating and informative documentary on Netflix]
  • Long Shot [yet another fascinating documentary on Netflix]
  • Big Trouble in Little China [John Carpenter film from the 80's, need I say more?]
  • They Live [my personal favorite John Carpenter film of all time]
  • Ferris Bueller's Day Off [John Hughes at his best]
  • Breakfast Club [John Hughes at his second best :P]
  • Rock & Rule [before there was the Anime explosion in America there was Rock & Rule]
  • The Last Unicorn [crazy ass Rankin Bass animated film from the golden age of contemporary artistic American animation]
  • Fidget spinner review videos on YouTube [I'm addicted to these things; ZeroFeud is a household name in my house ;)]
  • Legend [before he was Pennywise the clown, Tim Curry was the Lord of Darkness, one of the best movie villains (and best costume/makeup effects) ever]
  • Shin Godzilla [one of the few truly terrifying and infinitely tragic Godzilla films; also one of the best, especially if you figure out all the hidden aspects to the plot that the director only subtly eludes to but never outright explains in the film (two words: Goro Maki; also, why does he keep stopping near train stations?  Hmm...)]
  • Lots and lots of football :) [NFL, that is]

Definitely way cool!  Been watching this stuff since we sent our first American, Alan Shepard into space - 8th grade IIRC.  A REALY BFD!
Watching the side boosters land was like something out of a sci-fi movie.

Unfortunately - no,  That was a failure.

SpaceX confirms it lost the center core of the Falcon Heavy

" Elon Musk said on a conference call with reporters that the launch "seems to have gone as well as one could have hoped with the exception of center core. The center core obviously didn't land on the drone ship" and he said that "we're looking at the issue." Musk says that the core ran out of propellant, which kept the core from being able to slow down as much as it needed for landing. Because of that, the core apparently hit the water at 300MPH, and it was about 100 meters from the ship. "It was enough to take out two thrusters and shower the deck with shrapnel," Musk said. That should be worth seeing on video: "We have the video," Musk confirmed, "it sounds like some pretty fun footage... if the cameras didn't get blown up as well."
