Hi,

It looks like it's not the first time you got infected via Facebook. Please do not click every videolink people post..

* Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Post the log from ComboFix in your next reply.

Please make sure you disable ALL of your Antivirus/Antispyware/Firewall before running ComboFix..This because Security Software may see some components ComboFix uses (prep.com for example) as suspicious and blocks the tool, or even deletes it. Please visit HERE if you don't know how.

In case you lost internet access after performing above instructions:

In IE: Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab ->Lan Settings > uncheck "use a proxy server" or reconfigure the Proxy server again in case you have set it previously.

In Firefox in Tools Menu -> Options... -> Advanced Tab -> Network Tab -> "Settings" under Connection.

Ok,

Delete Combofix from your desktop and redownload it again, but in the way I described below:

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved and renamed following this process directly to your desktop**

  1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:
    • Tools->Options->Main tab
    • Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

[*]During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

CF_download_FF.gif

CF_download_rename.gif

[*]It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.

[*]Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.

[*]Close any open browsers.

[*]Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

-----------------------------------------------------------

  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
  • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

  • Close any open browsers.
  • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
  • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
  • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.

-----------------------------------------------------------

[*]Double click on combo-Fix.exe & follow the prompts.

[*]When finished, it will produce a report for you.

[*]Please post the "C:\Combo-Fix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.

**Note: Do not mouseclick combo-fix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

If you still cannot get this to run, try booting into Safe Mode, and run it there.

To boot into Safe Mode, tap F8 after BIOS, and just before the Windows logo appears. A list of options will appear, select "Safe Mode."

i'm running ie

i tried what you said and nothing

i uninstalled it and downloaded it again- nothing.

If you login in safe mode, you have to select your useraccount and not the Administrator one. That explains why you couldn't find Combofix since you're on another useraccount.

I assume you really renamed it before downloading it to your desktop? Because I cannot stress enough how important this is.

ok, i did that and it was there. then i tried to open it and this is what igot.

the publisher could not be verified

name: combo-fix.exe

app

run cancel

this file does not have a valid signature that verefies it as a publisher.you should only run from publishers you trust.

i clicked on run and nothing happened.

Strange you get that prompt, unless you're also dealing with a file infector..

Also, you're not running this from a network are you? Because that may explain it as well...

That was from safe mode? Afaik, you shouldn't even get that prompt in Windows safe mode.

It doesn't make sense though.. and I have the feeling that you're doing something wrong or not all instructions were followed by the letter (because this is extremely important)

Anyway, let's deal with your proxysettings first, so...

Then, Hi,

First of all, please update MalwareBytes, because the databaseversion is outdated.

  • Start MalwareBytes and click the Update tab. There click "Check for updates"
  • Once the updates are downloaded, perform a full scan again.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log, then we'll proceed from there with new steps.

Extra Note:

If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

i'm not on a network.

i did it from safe mode.

proxy server was already unchecked.

i did notice last week on exceptions that 2 tinyproxy boxes were checked. i taught this was strange because i never heard of it.

on the combofix. i think i did what you asked.

i clicked tried the two links you gave me and a file download secuirity box opens from geekstogo.com, i get a choice of run save or cancel. ichose save, then i got save as. i typed combo-fix and pressed save.

Hi,

You said that proxyserver was already unchecked, so how comes this is still present in the HijackThislog?

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:8484

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local;<local>

Also, still not sure why you got the message that your database is up to date while it isn't. This is all so confusing here and I really have no clue what was done or not...

Anyway, do next please...

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:8484

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local;<local>

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [seekmoOE] C:\Program Files\Seekmo\bin\10.0.341.0\OEAddOn.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [seekmoSA] "C:\Program Files\Seekmo\bin\10.0.341.0\SeekmoSA.exe"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [syshtray] c:\windows\higeorge2.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [(helpsvc) ] "C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\bin\ialmuPLK.exe" /set

O23 - Service: Help and Support (helpsvc) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\bin\ialmuPLK.exe (file missing)

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Then, go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

sc delete "Help and Support (helpsvc) " <== yes, there should be a space after ) and " at the end. Make sure the quotes are also included.

Hit enter.

Also, I see the Boylesports i-bar toolbar installed. This looks like a Softomate Toolbar variant. The dll files for their toolbars may contain some spyware/adware functionality, although not all of the toolbars use this. Some of the toolbars are fine to have, so every case is different. Your choice whether you want to keep it or not....

Then, Please run this online scan to help look for remnants.

Establish an internet connection & perform an online scan with Internet Explorer at Kaspersky Online Scanner

Click Accept, when prompted to download and install the program files and database of malware definitions.

  • Click Run at the Security prompt.
  • The program will then begin downloading and installing and will also update the database.
  • Please be patient as this can take several minutes.
  • Once the update is complete, click on My Computer under the green Scan bar to the left to start the scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.
  • Do NOT be alarmed by what you see in the report. Many of the finds have likely been quarantined.
  • Click View scan report at the bottom.
  • Click the Save Report As... button.
  • Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply.

**Note**

To optimize scanning time and produce a more sensible report for review:

  • Close any open programs.
  • Turn off the real-time scanner of all antivirus or antispyware programs while performing the online scan.

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble viewing the accept button of the license, click on the Zoom tool located at the bottom right of the IE window and set the zoom to 75%. Once the license is accepted, reset to 100%.

Also post a new HijackThislog in your next reply after performing above.

thank you for your help. i'd be lost without you .

the redirections have stopped on all the links ive tried.

i still cant update avg and it says its out of date.

tried to open command prompt and it would'nt open.

would you have any advice on what antivirus programmes and spyware/ malware i should use ?

i think malware bytes is great, but i'm not sure if it is updating properly.

should i have only one of these working at one time ?

again thanks for your time.
