Is this a paid version of avast antivirus ?

avast is now up to version 8 and this shows as version 5

If possible I'd like you to uninstall the current version of avast and reboot and then install the latest version and update it and do a Full System scan and let me know if it finds anything or not.

I'm concerned that your installation of avast might have something wrong with it and would like you to reinstall it.  Then do a full system scan with avast and post back the results.

Then do an mbam clean removal and reinstall process and then do a Quick Scan with MBAM as well and post back that log please.

yeah i did the uninstall/reinstall of avast already... that's where i said "no threats found/cyclical redundancy"... and then did the cleam removal of mbam, i'll re-install that now and do a scan. sorry for the delays, life keeps getting in the way.

Please run a Full Disk Check on your system

Click on START and type in CMD.EXE and when it shows on the menu right click and choose "Run as administrator"

Then type the following and press the Enter key.  It will say it can't lock the drive and ask if you want to run it on restart.  Press the Y key and then the Enter key.

Then restart the computer.  It should take at least 10 minutes to run in the DOS scanning screen.  It can take hours though depending on the size of the drive.

actually when i try to do anything with those folders in the e drive directly... i.e. the one is just an addon for warcraft that got locked in some how and i could never delete it... still can't, as for that Harvey folder issue, that's a completely new one to me, and i had just watched that movie again a few days ago with no problem.... it now says when i click on the folder that my E drive isn't formatted.... that does not sound good... and obviously untrue.

Okay please try the following.

Click on START - RUN and type in CMD.EXE and click OK.

Then type the following exactly and see if you can check the E: drive for failures.

CHKDSK E: /R /X

If you get an error about a RAW drive or something like that then do not proceed just let me know.
